Schism
A few weeks ago, the Drinking Liberally crowd in my town decided to leave my neighborhood pub in favor of this fancy new pizza place downtown. Seems they wanted food and hard liquor, and the smokers didn't want to go outside in the frigid North Carolina winter. As much as I'd like to be a liberal & all, I just can't bring myself to attend. Nice as this pizza place is, they don't allow dogs. Plus it's a little pricey, in my opinion. Not my kind of place at all, and I can't really walk home & there's no bus after 7 pm so there'd be cab fare on top of whatever I spend drinking.
It adds up, believe me.
So I've decided to start my own organization. I'm calling it Drinking Subversively, but you're free to call it something else if you like. There are no meetings, no mailing lists, no rules, no little buttons, and no website. All you have to do is go somewhere and drink something -- or not -- on Thursday night or on some other night; it doesn't matter. Wherever you go, there you are, and you are in charge. There is no way to recognize other members, nor is there any reason to talk to them if you do happen to think you spot one.
In fact, it's probably best if you don't mention it at all.

I'm in.
Don't tell/Won't tell either.
Great! Since we don't meet Thursdays, I won't see you tonight. Or something.
Heh. Way ahead of you on this. I just wiped out a whole bottle of Grand Marnier in about a month of Thursdays.
Or, Mondays. Wednesdays. Whatever. :-)
