Random 10: The 'rip out my heart and stomp on it' edition
Sometimes I really have to wonder about the iPod's shuffle play algorithm. It can't possibly be random. On the other hand, I'm not generally one to think I'm important enough to be singled out for this kind of torment. But, I mean, I left my office for a while, came back and put on my headphones and -- well, just listen to these songs all in a row and tell me you're not weeping, with your head on the table, wondering how soon you can leave your office and drink a glass of red red wine:
- "Go on Ahead" Liz Phair
- "Give Me Your Hips" The Cash Brothers
- "Those Three Days" Lucinda Williams
- "Ghost of You Walks" Richard Thompson
- "Make a Little Love" Alex Chilton
- "I Don't Want to Grow Up" The Ramones
- "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" Johnny Cash
- "I Think I Need A New Heart" the Magnetic Fields
- "True Love Leaves No Traces" Leonard Cohen
- "I Need You" Julie Miller
- "Steal Your Love" Lucinda Williams
- "Tear Stained Letter" Richard Thompson
- "Hey Jealousy" The Gin Blossoms
- "Coming Back to You" Jennifer Warnes
- "Still I Long For Your Kiss" Lucinda Williams
- "Love Hurts" Emmylou Harris
- "Girlfriend" Matthew Sweet
- "I've Been Loving You Too Long" Otis Redding
- "Red, Red Wine" Neil Diamond

oh jeez. i'm crying in my beer & all i did was read the list.
What a bunch of wristslitters! Sounds like my PMS CD collection...
It was a bizarre thing, hearing them all in a row like that. I'd been a perfectly good mood to start with, but a gal can only take so much. I mean, I love every song on the list (I love every song on my iPod), but all at once like that it was just too much. Especially at the office.
