Rapture and the DMV
Many thanks and a deep apology to TC Byrd over at Hattiesblog for an item she posted last October for godssakes. She listed me among several folks she suspected of occasionally lurking at her site (busted) and directed my attention to this hysterical post which poses the interesting question of whether driving licenses should be denied to saved premillenialist-type christians who think they might be taken home to jesus any minute and thus risk leaving their cars driverless in traffic.
I think it's a real hazard. Perhaps such individuals could be required to commit some small sin in order to get behind the wheel, much the same way I have to take medicine to drive and not fall asleep. Although if I'm understanding the whole thing correctly, these folks are saved by grace & not by works; I wonder if you can renounce salvation once you've accepted it, or if a little sinning would work for something like this. I mean, they can get forgiven again once they arrive safely; they just better be careful not to die unsaved in traffic is all.
Anyway, thanks TC! I do lurk over there sometimes -- and I was very worried about you and yours during the storm & glad to hear you'd made it through in one piece -- but I've been lurking & commenting less than usual of late (see my post below for yet another lame-ass excuse).
