Performance art or the perfect crime?
Nothing was stolen, nobody was hurt, and nothing was even broken when 26-year-old Pablo Wendel, dressed and made up to look like one of the terracotta warriors, jumped into an archeological site showcasing the 2,200-year-old statues and stood motionless for several minutes.
He even brought his own pedestal to stand on.
He was difficult to spot, as his costume was pretty excellent. "He looked too much like a terracotta warrior," said one security guard sent to look for him. Wendel was not charged or arrested for anything, but the costume was confiscated and he was scolded and sent back to Hangzhou, in eastern China, where he is a student.

Sounds like an improv everywhere stunt.
I love him!

Absolutely performance art with a criminal perfection- er- misdemeanor perfection... :>)
not even a misdemeanor; there were no charges! I just think it's hilarious. I mean, he snuck in, got into costume, and then just stood there until they apprehended him. I can't think of a better word than 'apprehended,' which sort of implies an attempt to flee. Which of course he wasn't doing. I mean, it's just so gloriously silly that I absolutely adore it. Completely subversive, potentially dangerous or something like that, but ultimately entirely harmless. And I love the pic on the BBC site that shows the security guards (are they confiscating his costume at that point?): doesn't it look like they're trying not to laugh?
So, so funny! My true love and I found it particularly hilarious that they confiscated the costume.
BWAH!
