Friday Random Ten: Born to laugh at statistics edition

There are 1189 songs currently on this iPod. Fourteen (a little over 1% of the total) are by Was (not Was). Five (less than half a percent of the total, and less than a third of the Was(not Was) currently loaded on the iPod) are from Born to Laugh at Tornadoes. Todays random ten is 20% Was(not Was) from BTLAT. Here's today's selection:

  1. "Man v. the Empire Brain Building" Was (not Was) Born to Laugh
    at Tornadoes
  2. "I've Got a Secret" Mud Boy & The Neutrons They Walk Among
    Us
  3. "Matty Groves" Fairport Convention Georgia On My Mind (v/a
    collection)
  4. "Desperadoes Under the Eaves" Warren Zevon Warren Zevon
  5. "Damned Old Dog" The Roches The Roches
  6. "Professor Night" Was (not Was) Born to Laugh at Tornadoes
  7. "Famous Blue Raincoat" Joan Baez Diamonds & Rust in the Bullring
  8. "Amado Mio" Pink Martini Sympathique
  9. "Do I Ever Cross Your Mind?" Joan Osborne Just Because I'm a Woman (D. Parton tribute CD)
  10. "Tennessee Waltz (Live)" Leonard Cohen Dear Heather
I'm sure it doesn't mean anything, you know, statistically or mystically. But just for comparison, about 20% of the songs on the iPod today are by either Tom Waits, Richard Thompson, Emmylou Harris, Leonard Cohen, Lucinda Williams, or Gram Parsons (a little over 3% each) - and only one of those showed up.

[Credit to Rox Populi and/or Trish Wilson's Blog and/or Feministe for the FRT feature. I'm not sure who came up with it, but it's fun to find out what everybody's listening to. Play along at home if you like: set your music-listening device to shuffle play and write down the first ten songs you hear. You can list them on your very own blog or here in the comments. Have fun!]
