Ruby does not like wasabi peas
I dropped a wasabi-coated roasted pea on the kitchen floor. Ruby chased it enthusiastically and got to it before I did. I tried to explain that dogs don't like wasabi very much at all. She ate it. And then she looked up at me with the most hilariously horrified look on her face. I took pity on her and gave her some supper a little early: some kibble and half of one of those awful Scotch Pies I made the other day.
She's had a rough coupla days.

The first time my true love was served wasabi, he says he thought it was avocado and popped the whole little green blobby into his mouth. I imagine the expression on his face must have been similar to Ruby's.
I don't think he had any lovely Scotch pie filling to console himself with, though, just sake. I expect that's more his preference anyway, though I doubt it would be Ruby's.
She's not crazy about bourbon, but she likes beer OK.
I did an "Owwwww" when you described Ruby beating you to the Wasabi - which is forever linked in my mind to Jean Reno (due to the film with the same name).
Ruby drinks beer? How often? I know that Elephants like getting drunk on fermented fruit and actually the majority of human injuries are from drunk elephants in the wild (Thank you Stephen Fry and QI - and they said the information would NEVER be useful).
She drinks beer if someone spills it, and has on at least two occasions tipped over someone's beer onto the patio in order to drink it. I try to warn guests not to set anything where she can reach it, but some people just don't listen.
She does not show a similar interest in wine or coffee, although she'll lick the outside of the glass if you're not careful.
Oh, and I'd actually read somewhere that elephants who become intoxicated on rotting fruit were kind of a hazard, in places where there are elephants roaming around. And that they seem to seek it out and consume it on purpose.
There are no elephants in my neighborhood. Somebody said they saw a deer not far from here the other day, but that's about the largest animal hereabouts.
